A bag of 95 boa constrictor snakes burst open on a luggage conveyor belt at a Malaysian airport as the owner tried to smuggle them into Indonesia.
Keng Wong, who was previously imprisoned for almost six years for running an animal-smuggling ring in the US, was arrested at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and was charged with exporting the endangered snakes without a permit. The offence carries a maximum penalty of seven years imprisonment.
Officials also found other types of snake and a turtle amongst the mans belongings.
All of the animals survived and are being cared for by wildlife officials. |
